Mercy Johnson’s Husband Claims PDP Sends Thugs To Assassinate Him Ahead Edo Guber Poll

Federal Lawmaker representing Esan Northeast and Esan Southeast Constituency in Edo State, Henry Okojie who is the husband of the popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson has alleged that some leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state sent thugs to assassinate him ahead this Saturday Edo Governorship election.

Reports on Friday spread across the internet that a group of people who disguised as police men invaded the residence of the lawmaker at his hometown with the intention to assassinate but they were prevented by security operatives attached to the lawmaker.

According to a statement by the media office of the lawmaker, some of the attackers were arrested and they have made useful confessional statements that they were sent by PDP leaders in Esan land to assassinate the Nollywood actress’s husband.

Okojie’s media aide, Michael Ihaza, stated  in a news statement on Friday that Okojie, the husband of the Nollywood movie Star, Mercy Johnson, was  attacked at his residence by gunmen in a Lexus GX 470 carrying a Rivers State vehicle registration number – PHC 253 FF.

The statement indicated that the planned assassination “was unsuccessful owing to the intervention of security personnel attached to the lawmaker”.

“The armed thugs who disguised as police officers along with two others, invaded the residence of Honourable Okojie, claimed to be on appointment and proceeded to the seating room.

“Following the intervention of the security personnel attached to the lawmaker, two of the armed thugs fled leaving behind the driver and another who are currently being interrogated by officers from the Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Uromi.

“The suspects have so far made a confessional statement stating that they were sent on the mission by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Esan North East Local Government Area,” the statement reads.

Edo State Police Command is yet to react the allegation of the attempted assassination on the life of the lawmaker.
