Former Governor of Rivers State and Nigeria Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has stated that the state is a big capital of betrayals by politicians, in reaction to the political differences between the immediate past Governor of the state and the current Minister of  Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and the Rivers State Governor, Fubara Siminalayi.

Rotimi Amaechi in a news interview on Wednesday also called on Nigerians to be on the streets, protesting the apparent hunger in the land and not voting following the leadership problems the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu seems to have caused in the country.

Amaechi said he could no longer afford the cost of diesel and wondered how other people who may not be that priviledged like him are surviving the economic situation in the country.

According to Amaechi, Siminalayi Fubara was accountant to Nyesom Ezenwo Wike when he was chairman of Obio/Akpor local government area in RIvers  and when him, Amaechi became governor, Wike brought Fubara to state level functionality.

Some close watchers have stated that what Fubara is experiencing with Wike has been the daily struggle of Rotimi Amaechi with same Wike at the reign of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s presidency. Some of the observers added that the actions of Wike didn’t start newly and the behaviours need to be tamed before it get out of hand.

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi expressed his frustration over Nigerians’ lack of response to the country’s economic hardships.

He criticized citizens for not protesting against rising living costs, noting that he personally can’t afford diesel anymore due to its high price. Amaechi emphasized that people should be angry and take action against corruption and economic struggles.

“I can’t afford to buy diesel now”, Rotimi Amaechi said. Adding, there is the need for the general public to protest against politicians.

In the interview with ABN TV, the former Rivers State governor questioned why Nigerians are not more vocal in their outrage, pointing to rising costs and the inability of many to afford basic necessities such as fuel.

“I’m angry with the citizens; people should be angry. There should be protests. We will not vote; there will be no election in our state because of the current rate of hunger.

“If people like us can’t afford diesel, you can imagine how others are coping”, said Amaechi.

Amaechi had contested in the primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to grab the party ticket for the 2023 Presidential election and lost it to President Bola Tinubu.
