Meanwhile, reports indicated that Major General GentleDYahoo kinsmen from Aku Community have distanced themselves from the activities of the Biafra fighter.

The report circulated on social media few days ago indicated that “the people of Aku Autonomous Community in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State have publicly dissociated themselves from the criminal activities linked to Ifeanyi Okpegbu Okoromenta Eze, popularly known as “Gentle Devil Yahoo.”

In a statement issued under the banner of the Aku Okigwe Restoration Movement, the community condemned what they described as years of “terrorism, kidnapping, organ harvesting, arson, and other heinous crimes” that have plagued the region for over four years.

The group stressed that Gentle Devil Yahoo’s actions do not represent the people of Aku or the wider Southeast, dismissing claims that he is fighting for the actualization of Biafra. Instead, they described him as “a devil in human form, feeding on human flesh and bringing untold pain and suffering.”

Residents noted that many families have fled their homes since 2021, living in helplessness as a result of repeated attacks. They insisted that the time has come for urgent intervention from the Federal, State, and Local Governments, as well as non-governmental organizations and philanthropists.

Among the pressing needs identified by the community are: Road Construction: They appealed for the opening of access roads, noting that the absence of motorable routes has made it nearly impossible for security agencies to respond to crises. They listed key road networks requiring construction, including Ihube–Aku–Umouwaibu Road, Aku–Amosu–Ihube Road, and Aku–Lomara Road.

Rehabilitation of Public Infrastructure: The rebuilding of local markets such as Nkwo, Orie, and Ulo Nkwu Aku markets. Education and Health: The reconstruction of Aku Secondary School, Community School, Central Primary School, and the restoration of Aku Health Centre.

Provision of Essential Utilities: The installation of electricity, which they said the community has never enjoyed, as well as access to clean water.

The convener of the Aku Restoration Movement, Mr. Ugochukwu Godwin Ikeh, who signed the statement on behalf of the people, emphasized that addressing these long-neglected infrastructure projects would not only improve the quality of life but also help restore peace and security in the troubled area.

“We urge all stakeholders to support us in this critical effort to end insecurity and bring lasting peace to our land,” the statement read.
